Friends,

 

This year, we at the Bohan's Family Memorial website have decided to celebrate Veterans Day with a special "Warrior Of The Month" tribute.  A tribute to the military veterans of the Isshin-Ryu community, our friends, and associates.  Approximately four months ago, we put out an e-mail requesting that any veteran of any armed service who would like to contribute to our special presentation please forward us a picture of yourself, sensei, or dojomate in their military uniform and that we would gladly post it with all the others we received on this special day.  The response was amazing.

 

As many of you know, Isshin-Ryu had it's beginnings in the U.S. due in great part to the help of the United States Marine Corps and its many Marines who trained directly under Soke Tatsuo Shimabuku.  They brought back their newly acquired skills and knowledge and opened dojo's throughout the U.S.. The majority of practicing Isshin-Ryu Karate-ka today, can trace their lineage back to a service member and we would like to thank them in this fitting tribute.

 

We plan on making this tribute an annual event.  If you would like your picture in your military uniform posted, please forward it to us with your name and branch of service.  

 

As you observe this special holiday, please remember all the sacrifices that all our service men and women have endured and are enduring throughout the world.  If you know any veterans, please take the time to thank them for their service.
