Did you know that
most of the old photos that were taken at Master Tatsuo Shimabuku's Agena
dojo had markings similar to the one shown above. Our research led to
Master John Bartusevics and Sensei Jake
Eckenrode.
Master
Bartusevics reminded us that cameras were expensive back in the day and few
if any of the marines had such resources to purchase their own.
Many of the pictures he donated to the website came from
Marine Crops reporters that he made use of during his stay. He
would invite such reporters to come and cover the Marine Karate-Ka as they
traveled with Master Shimabuku Tatsuo during demonstrations.
Sensei Jake
Eckenrode told us the exact same thing. The notations on the attached
file above came from the back of the now famous Isshin-Ryu picture of Grand
Master Shimabuku Tatsuo and his American students during the demo pictured
bellow. Sensei
Eckenrode was responsible for having Marine Crops reporter LCpl Panagopoulos
cover the demonstration and for having this and many other great pictures
taken.

If you have an interesting
"Did You Know" forward it to the web master at
